I had decided long ago that I would breastfeed. I was fortunate to have a whole lot of support and information available to me when I got pregnant.
But what about those who didn't have anyone to turn to?
That's when I came across Mommy Mundo's Mommy Milkshake run. It's a fun run supporting breastfeeding. We joined it this year. It was a family oriented event. There were lots of kids and, unbelievably, a lot of dads, too. After the run, we headed on to Mercato Centrale for our loot bags, snacks and the breastfeeding expo. I'm glad to know that there are breastfeeding support groups here in Manila.
There are a lot of products available to help nursing mothers - from nursing covers to nursing tops and dresses, too. For those who can't be with their babies 24/7, there's a wide range of nursing pumps that you can choose from. And don't forget the malunggay! There are malunggay tablet supplements and all sorts of malunggay fortified food.
Most malls support breastfeeing by having breastfeeding areas. This is a big deal for a mall rat like me. I favor some malls over others for the convenience of an available breastfeeding area.
I love breastfeeding Monch. For him, it's the health factor. For me, it's the bonding factor. As his daddy puts it, nursing is Monch's comfort zone.
I hope that more mothers and mothers-to-be will consider breastfeeding their children.
Do you have breastfeeding questions and/or concerns? I'm not an expert, but I can share my experience. You can also email me at happynmonch@gmail.com.
I am a mother. I am Filipino and currently living in Davao City. I love pictures - both taking and posing. Given a chance, I can talk your ear off. I like to try new things. I like commercials. I love to sing, but singing doesn't love me. I love road trips. I am Davao's resident tourist. I am a Jill of various trades. I am a beach bum. I love beer. I have my own opinions. I can be stubborn. I am happy. I am Happy.
